Objective

Content

The main focus of the course is on the role of social policy, social policy, economic policy and social work in the welfare state. It also looks at the diversity and inequality of people's life situations, the prevention of poverty and exclusion, and inclusion and empowerment.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

You can describe the socio-political background and structures of rehabilitation. You know the purpose of the welfare state and recognise its importance in practice. Identify the factors that cause differences and inequalities in people's life situations. You can describe the role of social protection and social services in supporting people's everyday life and strengthening inclusion. You will be able to apply socially based knowledge to rehabilitation and guidance work.

Teaching methods

The entire course is delivered online.
In the webinars, you will learn about the role of social policy, social policy, economic policy and social work in the welfare state through interactive lectures and group work.
The course will introduce you to the phenomena related to differences in people's life situations, inequalities, poverty and social exclusion prevention and participation.
With the help of subject matter exam you will identify and familiarise yourself with the key social assumptions of rehabilitation.
In a pair assignment, you will apply knowledge based on social assumptions to rehabilitation and guidance work.
In self-reflection, you will reflect on your own learning and work during the course.

Practical training and working life connections

In a pair assignment, you will identify the phenomena and actors related to inequality, poverty and social exclusion in your living environment.

Exam dates and retake possibilities

Material exam on 27.11.2024 between 8 and 20:00.
1st retake on 4.12.2024 between 8-20 am.
2nd retake on 11.12.2024 between 8-20 am.

Alternative completion methods

You can apply for credit for a course as recognition of competence. Applications for accreditation must demonstrate competence in relation to the objectives and content of the course. A decision on a possible credit for the course must be taken before the first webinar (online teaching), as the work on the pair assignment is already started in the first webinar (online teaching).

Further information for students

The whole course is assessed on a pass/fail scale.
The course assignments will be assessed on the basis of separate assessment criteria, which will be announced at the beginning of the course in the Moodle work space.
The material exam will be a Moodle exam. The assessment of the exam will be based on statements and multiple-choice questions. The assessment scale for the exam is pass/fail.
The assessment of the paired assignment will focus on your ability to identify, describe and apply socially based knowledge to rehabilitation and counselling work. The pair assignment will be assessed on a pass/fail scale.
