Objective

You master the most central areas related to the data center: concepts, structures, used technical implementation methods and general infrastructure. In addition, you master the principles of data center design and knows how to design the data center infrastructure based on the requirement specifications, taking into account the constraints.

Course competences
EUR-ACE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
EUR-ACE ENGINEERING PRACTICE

Content

The course includes different areas of the data center, commonly used technologies and infrastructures. In addition, the content of the course includes the different requirement levels of data centers and the best design practices.

Qualifications

The student must have passed the professional studies of the orientation in order for the student to have the prerequisites to complete the course. The knowledge base consists of knowledge of the theory and practices of IT service management, knowledge of different network technologies, and knowledge of server operating systems and practical knowledge.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows the basics of data center-related theory and can interpret simple data center design documents. The student knows the basics of project activities and actively participates in group activities without being capable of critical self-evaluation.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student basically knows the theory and analysis related to data center design. The student knows how to design a simple data center infrastructure with good documentation. The student knows how to work in a project group and evaluate the main characteristics of the group's and self's activities as well as the plans of the output, i.e. the data center.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student shows that she/he has a good command of the theory related to the design of the data center and is able to analyze existing solutions in a comprehensive manner and to design an eco-efficient data center infrastructure in a project format based on the given requirements definition in a group. The student can work in all roles in a project group and critically evaluate the group's and self's activities as well as the plans for the output, i.e. the data center.
