Objective
ENGINEERING APPLICATION TO PRACTICE The student understands the technical structure of the automation system, their role in process control and how they connect to other systems in the plant. The student identifies the control circuits and their related measurements and controls from the PI diagram. The student grasps the basic aspects of system sizing, such as IO calculation. The student can implement a simple application with an automation system based on a functional description. The student understands the role of control loops in industry and can design a conceptual control loop for a process. The student understands the operating principle of the PID controller and can perform tuning for a simple process. The student understands the possibilities of the automation system for process control and data collection.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
The student knows the theoretical principle of the PID controller and knows the most common tuning methods.
