Combustion and Control of EmissionsLaajuus (5 cr)

Code: TE00BS27

Credits

5 op

Teaching language

  • Finnish

Objective

You will deepen your knowledge of combustion and other thermal corversion processes in Finland in different production scales. You know the legislative guidance on emissions management and the connection to international climate goals. You understand the theory of combustion and the things that affect emissions, and you know how to calculate emissions and the factors that affect their generation.
You know the main emissions of energy production processes into the ground, air and water, as well as their most important environmental effects. You know the basics of energy production emission control, monitoring and measurement methods. In addition, you know how to analyze, interpret and report measurement results, e.g. in accordance with the requirements of environmental permit practices.

Content

Mechanisms for emissions control in energy production
Thermal conversions, process theory and applications
Calculation of combustion and efficiency
Air emissions and waste from energy production processes and their environmental effects
Means of controlling emissions in the combustion process and flue gas cleaning
