Objective

Purpose of the course
Sustainable development, including e.g. measures that concern mitigating the climate change together with securing biodiversity and human rights, is a timely issue in our societies including the business world. They understand the ethical responsibilities of organisations.

Study methods
Responsible Management course is an online course. Your studies take place in the Moodle learning environment, where you will find course instructions, schedules, assignments and materials. There are no webinars in this course. But you have enhanced the learning from your student colleagues via discussion forum. You can also discuss and share your findings with other students about responsibility issues in Discussion forum.

Teachers are available and please ask the questions regarding this course via FAQ. It is important, that also the other students can see the answer. You may not be the only one, who is pondering around the issue. In the course, learning takes place flexibly according to the student's own schedule.
The course does not include webinars. You will conduct independent information retrieval and apply what you have learned in the assignments.

The study of the course begins by orientation to the course, the theoretical starting points of responsible management and the definition of the concept. During the first three weeks of the course, an orientation assignment that confirms your presence in the course. Participation in the course requires that you have submitted Learning Assignment 1 by 22.9.2024.

Guidance
Guidance takes place in the Moodle learning environment (question and answer forum).

You will get feedback on your assignments.

You give feedback on the course (mid-term and final feedback on the implementation).

You do assignment 4 using the organization of your choice as a case study.

During the course, you will utilise international research literature. In your assignments, you will take into account the international perspective on responsibility.

You can familiarise yourself with 17§ of Jamk's degree regulations when considering the recognition and recognition of course competence based on your previously acquired competence and the objectives of the course.

Student workload

Your indicative use of time during the 5-credit course is 135 working hours, which is divided as follows:

Independent material retrieval 10 h

Familiarization with study material 25 hours

Individual assignment 95 hours

Collaborative learning 5 hours

Content scheduling

This course takes place on the spring semester 2024 (2.9.2024-28.2.2025) and takes place in the Moodle learning environment and the course does not include webinars. The timetable can be found below. You can study the course in accordance with a personal schedule and completion plan.

The Moodle workspace opens to the students 2.9.2024. (The course starts on 2.9.2024.)

The dates (and final dates) for the submissions is informed in table below after which you can not submit your work anymore.
The course ends on 28.2.2025.
The evaluation is complete on 28.3.2025.

You have three possible due dates for returning the assignments:

1) If you need to get a grade for the course in December 2024, return the assignments by 1st of December 2024 at 23:59.

2) If you need to get a grade for the course in February 2025, return the assignments by 26th of January 2025 at 23:59.

3) If you need to get a grade for the course in March 2025, return the assignments by 28th of February 2025 at 23:59.

Further information

The learning during the course will be qualitatively evaluated based on the learning outcomes.

During the course, the utilization of artificial intelligence, instructions and possible ethical questions follow the updated recommendations of Arene and Jamk's rules.

The participants of the course will be checked three weeks after the start of the implementation. Participation in the course requires that you have submitted Learning Assignment 1 by 22.9.2024.

Learning outcomes
The students recognise the various dimensions; ecological, social (and economic) of corporate responsibility in in global economy. The students learn to understand responsibility from the viewpoint of different stakeholders and interest groups. They develop their own strategic thinking and are able to analyse the concept of responsibility on the basis of strategic considerations. They understand the ethical responsibilities of organisations.
