Objective

1. Students will identify the requirements of entrepreneurship and be able to assess their own strengths and areas for development.
2. Understand the basics of business and be able to evaluate and develop business activities.
3. develop their own entrepreneurial skills, such as sales skills, teamwork, problem solving, communication and presentation skills.
4. Building business networks that promote business.
5. The student will be able to plan the business operations of a company.
6. The student can develop a business model and business plan to support his/her idea and develop it during the operation.
7. The student will be able to use business planning tools and prepare business start-up documents.
8. Identify and evaluate their own activities in a business as part of a team.

Content

The JA Company Program is a learning program that combines theory and practice. Its objectives are learning and developing entrepreneurial skills and an entrepreneurial attitude.

During the program, students will, individually or in a group, establish a JA company using real money, in accordance with their own interests and skills. If they want, students can also participate in national competitions and events.

The program consists of 16 learning modules:

4. Teams and teamwork

Further information

JA Company programme, student/student teams work on a nationwide e-learning platform, completing selected modules independently. The programme requires re-connection to the platform, which is done with the assistance of a Jamki liaison officer.

Time and location

The course can be completed fully independently during the academic year 2024-2025. You will be able to plan your own timetable.

Learning materials and recommended literature

The learning material consists of 16 modules from the JA Company program online platform. Under each module there is a wide range of learning material, including videos, publications, tools, etc.

Teaching methods

You will complete the course fully independently as an online course. The course is based on the online platform of the JA Company programme, for which registration is required.

Student workload

The minimum course is 1 credits = 27 hours and a maximum is 5 credits = 135 hours.You can choose which modules you want to complete and this will determine the total course credit. The credit will be recorded based on the number of credits completed.

Content scheduling

The online platform offers 16 different entrepreneurship-themed modules, which you can complete according to your choice. Independent scheduling and sequencing is essential. The learning platform and the material on it will be open throughout the academic year 2024-2025.

Further information for students

When registering for the course, please contact the teacher responsible for the course, Suvi Salminen (suvi.salminen@jamk.fi) and you will receive a course ID.

As a student, you will document your work and prepare a short presentation based on the material you have prepared, which you will return to the responsible teacher together with your lesson notes. The teacher will assess the number of credits (1-5 credits) completed on the basis of the material and record the completion mark.
