Objective

The student masters the basic concepts of technology related to the bioeconomy.
The student understands the technological development trends of the bioeconomy and is able to utilize the related opportunities as a source of innovations in his / her own field of specialization and manage the technological research and development process.

Content

At the choice of the student, at least two of the following;
Technological solutions related to forest biomass cultivation
Technological solutions related to the cultivation of field biomass
Technological solutions related to the cultivation of algae, yeast and bacterial biomass
Technological options in the food production chain
Technologies for the production and use of bioenergy
Solar and wind energy technologies
Electricity and heat distribution methods
Production and distribution of transport biofuels.
Traditional forest biomass processing technologies
New biomass utilization technologies

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient (1): The student is familiar with the basic technological alternatives in the field of bioeconomy and the related terminology.
Satisfactory (2): The student is familiar with basic technological solutions in the field of bioeconomy and related terminology, but has shortcomings in the application of key issues.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): the student knows the main things of the course:
- is familiar with technological concepts and production and processing methods in the bioeconomy sector.
- be able to make satisfactorily informed choices in relation to the technological challenges of the bioeconomy
Very good (4): the student masters the key issues and is able to apply them critically and innovatively in solving technological challenges in the bioeconomy, eg in the design of energy systems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): the student masters key issues and is able to apply them critically and innovatively in solving demanding technological challenges in the bioeconomy, eg in planning a more efficient holistic use of biomass.
