Objective

Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
- Employ theoretical and conceptual knowledge to identify and analyze business problems in global contexts
- Identify and place into practice information-based decision making approaches to business and managerial problems
- Interpret and analyze complex business issues from multiple perspectives and critically review academic literature and other relevant information sources
- Apply proven theoretical and conceptual knowledge of global business challenges in multicultural contexts
- Communicate effectively in English in oral, written and electronic formats using communication and information technology for business applications, and is able to prepare and present reports and presentations

Content

Roles of HRM in a modern organisation, HRM and corporate strategy, Job analysis, HR planning, testing, selection, placement, training & development, compensation, labour relations, employee security, international human resource management, future of HRM, Human Capital Assessment , recent trends in HRM

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Assessment is based on knowledge, skills and competence in accordance with the National and European Qualifications Framework, level 6
Excellent (5) –
Knowledge and Understanding: The student demonstrates exceptional theoretical and conceptual knowledge of modern HRM processes
Intellectual Skills: Student shows excellent ability to find, select and evaluate reference literature and utilize those findings in interpreting and justifying business issues affecting HR in a company from multiple perspectives
Practical Skills: Student shows excellent ability to identify and analyze managerial situations and propose viable HR solutions to them.
Transferable skills: Student is able to present his ideas and findings in an excellent manner in oral and written communications
Very Good (4) –
Knowledge and Understanding: The student demonstrates knowledge of core parts of theoretical and conceptual knowledge of modern HRM
Intellectual Skills: Student is well able to find, select and evaluate reference literature to support his interpretation and justification of HRM-related business issues
Practical Skills: Student show very good level of command of tools usable for identification and analyzing HRM management situations and challenges and proposing viable solutions to them.
Transferable skills: Student shows very good skills in presenting his ideas and findings in manner in oral and written communications
Good (3) –
Knowledge and Understanding: The student shows good command of most key HRM processes and principles
Intellectual Skills: Students shows ability of supporting his views and ideas with selected references
Practical Skills: Students shows ability to utilize analytical and conceptual tools in approaching HRM processes and proposing viable action plans for them
Transferable skills: Student is able to communicate his main findings and ideas well both orally and in written form
Satisfactory (2):
Knowledge and Understanding: The student shows evidence of having learned some core theories and concepts related to modern Human Resource Management
Intellectual Skills: Ability to critically review and select reference materials to support own ideas and analysis is limited
Practical Skills: Student shows some ability to turn conceptual knowledge into viable HRM strategies and practical action plans
Transferable skills: Skills to communicate the student´s output needs improvement
Sufficient (1):
Knowledge and Understanding: The student is familiar with a restricted part of theories and concepts related to the modern HR management practice
Intellectual Skills: Student has limited capabilities in sourcing, judging and utilizing relevant reference material to support own intellectual work
Practical Skills: Student shows relatively poor ability to turn conceptual knowledge into justifiable proposals for HRM strategies and practical action plans
Transferable skills: Student has deficiencies in communicating his views and ideas in oral and written communications.
The final course grade is based on items of assessment explained in next section, individual items contain various ILOs.
