Objective

Upon completion of this course a student will be able to

• employ theoretical and conceptual knowledge of cultural understanding and intelligence in international business (KU1)
• apply the gained theoretical and conceptual cultural knowledge in different aspects of international business: negotiations, management, sales and marketing (PS1)

Content

The course offers an analysis of theoretical intercultural knowledge and concepts and their practical implications in international business. The students will develop their understanding, how to apply the cross-cultural theories and models in various intercultural tasks,case studies and practical assignments concerning negotiations, sales, marketing and management.

Qualifications

Completed basic business and management studies.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Adequate 1
Knowledge and Understanding: The student is able to demonstrate some Basic theoretical and conceptual knowledge of intercultural issues.
Practical Skills: The student has obvious difficulties in applying the proven theoretical and conceptual knowledge in different international business challenges.

Satisfactory 2
Knowledge and Understanding: The student is able to give some evidence on his/her theoretical and conceptual knowledge of intercultural issues. Central concepts have been defined but vaguely. The student displays only superficial knowledge of the subject area.
Practical Skills: The student has some difficulties in applying the proven theoretical and conceptual knowledge in different international business challenges.

Good 3
Knowledge and Understanding
The student demonstrates his/her theoretical and conceptual knowledge of intercultural issues clearly. Central concepts have been defined well. The student displays fairly good command of the subject area.
Practical Skills: The student is able to apply proven theoretical and conceptual knowledge in different international business challenges fairly well.

Very good 4
Knowledge and Understanding: The student demonstrates solid and right theoretical and conceptual knowledge of intercultural issues. Central concepts have been defined accurately. The student displays a good command of the subject area.
Practical Skills: The student is able to apply proven theoretical and conceptual knowledge in different international business challenges in a good manner.

Excellent 5
Knowledge and Understanding: The student demonstrates his/her theoretical and conceptual knowledge of intercultural issues in detail. Central concepts have been defined with precision. The student displays a clear command of the subject area.
Practical Skills: The student is able to apply proven theoretical and conceptual knowledge in different international business challenges in an excellent manner.
