Objective

The student understands basic concepts and approaches of health promotion. The student knows the significance of national and international strategies of health promotion and wellbeing for the reduction of health inequalities and marginalization as well as other major global challenges in health promotion. The student can identify the factors that affect wellness and health and can understand and distinguish role of factors at different levels of health promotion of clients with various backgrounds. The student has the ability to seek and choose evidence-based information for support in decision-making in health promotion. The student can apply and evaluate the knowledge of exercise and nutrition to health promotion in different health care settings.

Content

Concepts of health promotion. National and international (WHO, EU) strategies, recommendations and programmes in health promotion. Current global priorities in health promotion. Reduction of health inequalities and prevention of marginalization. Determinants of health and wellbeing. Physical activity and nutrition in health promotion.
