Objective

The students have an overall understanding of the phases of an electrical design project and the structure of an industrial power network. They know the symbols used in electrical diagrams and are able to interpret main, circuit and wiring diagrams. They know the significance of standards and regulations in electrical design. They are familiar with calculation and simulation software and are able to utilise them in sizing the components and protection levels. They know the basics of load calculation and the technical-economic sizing methods used in the selection of components. They are able to estimate the technical-economic cost/benefit ratio in filtering harmonics and compensating reactive power.

TSASO – Design competence
The student knows the methods and tools of hardware and software design in electrification.
The student is able to dimension and select machines and components using techno-economic principles.

TSASV – Competence in electric power systems
The student has the knowledge of the general network of electricity distribution and buildings’ electrical network.

The student is able to measure the components for network of electricity distribution and buildings’ electrical network.
The student has the knowledge of the protection and operation supervision of machines and devices of electricity distribution and electric systems.

EA-EE: Engineering design
The student has an understanding of design methodologies and an ability to use them.

Good (3): The student:
- has an overall understanding of the phases of an electrical design project.
- knows the symbols used in electrical diagrams and is able to interpret main, circuit and wiring diagrams.
- is able to size the components and protection levels.

Satisfactory (2): The student is familiar with the basic knowledge and terminology but in the application of the essential concepts the skills are still inadequate.

Adequate (1): The student identifies the basic knowledge and terminology but in the interpreting of the essential concepts the skills are still inadequate.
