Objective

Together with the multi-professional team, the student is able to share and utilize expertize, as well as plan, implement and evaluate the care of patients with public health problems. Student is able to:
-Observe, evaluate and support vital functions (breathing, circulation, life support)
-Maintain the fluid balance
-Perform basic clinical examinations
-Follow the principles of aseptic work and infection precautions
-Perform patient education by the means of motivational discussion
-Use basic clinical technologies taking into account patient safety
Student applies the values and principles of patient-centered care. Student utilizes nursing science and other supporting sciences in professional decision-making.
Student is able to take into account factors related to health promotion and patient safety. The student organizes work duties, workflows and decision-making and works in a systematic and goal-oriented manner.
Student masters the medical drug calculations.

-Fluid balance, peripheral fluid therapy and medication
-Basic clinical examinations and result interpretation
-Principles of aseptic work
-Motivational discussion; supporting patients' resources
-Encountering threatening patients
-Basic clinical technologies

Practical training in specialized or primary health care settings with domains of public health and/or internal medicine.

Qualifications

Student masters the core concepts and principles of patient-centered care and has evidence-based knowledge on health promotion and preventive care aims, as well as methods of patient education focusing on health outcomes. Student understands the importance of multi-professional collaboration public health care. The student proves mastering of drug calculations before the practical training.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- Is able to perform basic clinical examinations
- Implements the principles of aseptic work
-Demonstrates skills in patient centered education by the means of motivational discussion
- Is able to use basic clinical technologies taking into account patient safety
- Masters the medical drug calculations

Student can apply the values and principles of patient-centered care and utilizes nursing science and other supporting sciences in professional decision-making. The student implements medical treatment safely under guidance and is able to analyze the challenges of his/her development. The student shows ability to organize work duties and workflows by following systematic and goal-oriented manner. The student encounters different customers/patients professionally.
