Objective

The students will understand the most common production technologies and the possibilities of the machinery used in the production processes of engineering industry.
Automation
To gain a basic understanding of automation systems, to compare advantages and disadvantages of different technologies in logistics processes controlling principles involved and to plan basic automation systems.
EUR-ACE Engineering Practice:
The students are designing Flow Diagrams and choosing machinery and equipment for named production and logistics processes. The project work includes utilization rate and other relevant engineering examinations based on Project Work decision done by the teams.
TELEN Engineering Skills:
The students are able to compare production and automation systems requirements and understand different equipment needed.
YHTVI Communication Skills:
The students are capable for team work and know modern communication methods.

Content

Production Technology
Manufacturing technology: Cutting, Joining, Sheet metal works, NC-technologies
Manufacturing systems: Functional, Line layout, Cell Production, Workshop, FMS-technology

Automation
To know basics of pneumatics, hydraulics and robotics etc.and controlling systems of them.

Qualifications

To understand technical drawings. Introduction to Logistics.

Sufficient (1): Student has gained knowledge of course objectives but face challenges to utilize them in practice.

Satisfactory (2): Student has gained knowledge of course objectives and can utilize them partly in practice.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): Student has gained understanding of course objectives and can utilize them in practice.

Very good (4): Student has attained very good level of course objectives and can apply them into practice.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): Student has attained an excellent level of course objectives and can apply them into practice in innovative manner.
