Objective

The student understands the structures of control systems and can analyze and tune the system so that the main quality measures of the process can be met. The student can design and tune the process controls in a case where delays, nonlinearities and disturbances exist. The student can design feedforward and cascade control loops.


TSASO - Design competence
The student can design the principled control diagram according to process diagram.

TSAPL - Competence in processes, machines and systems
The student can design the suitable control solution for the processes and field devices.

EA-ER - Engineering practice
The student can test and tune the PID controller of the laboratory process.

Structures and features of control loops
MATLAB/SIMULINK modeling and simulation program
modeling of dynamic systems
control methods
measuring of performance and optimizing of the controller

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Adequate (1): The student identifies the basic knowledge and terminology but in the interpreting of the essential concepts the skills are still inadequate.

Satisfactory (2): The student is familiar with the basic knowledge and terminology but in the application of the essential concepts the skills are still inadequate.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): The student:
•understands the basics of the modeling of the dynamic systems.
•can design a PID controller for the dynamic process
•can test and tune the PID controller
•understands the system so deeply that the student can find the reasons of malfunctions.

Very good (4): The student masters the essential knowledge and can apply the knowledge.

Excellent (5): The student masters the essential knowledge and can apply the knowledge acquired in a creative and innovative manner.
