Objective

The main aim of the course is to broaden understanding of consequences of globalization on vocational education and training. Globalization shapes education on both organizational and individual level as well as the labour market. The role of a VET teacher is in constant change. The course will increase your self-awareness of having a proactive part in the future of VET.

You are able to understand globalization and current issues in the context of vocational education. You are aware of the requirements in labour market and their role as VET teachers. Also you are able to develop your skills and practices to deal with challenges and other issues raising from globalization.

Content

During this course you will discover reformed structures of VET education and its implications to VET organisations and the role of a VET teacher. You will ponder how to develop professional identity and agency in global VET. You will consider future challenges within VET, such as VET scenarios, needs for the future labour workforce and future visions for VET.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

In this course future orientation, developmental skills, agency and reflection skills are assessed.

Future orientation manifests in your actions starting to be involved in creating the future for VET learning, working life and society by investigating and critically analysing existing practices and structures.

Developmental skills refers to your ability to further develop your own and/or your organisation’s practices in collaboration with others, and your ability to develop VET learning, working life and entrepreneurship at the regional, national and international levels by working in partner networks.

Agency skills refers that you have proactive approach to set aims for your own professional development and you have an ability to participate in a joint knowledge building.

Reflection skills refers to your ability to recognise and critically assess your values, attitudes, ethical principles and work methods as VET teacher.

During the learning process the methods of self- and peer-assessment are used. The assessment decision is made by the teacher educators once all the learning assignments have been completed
