Objective

EA-KN (oli KU) Knowledge and understanding

The student has the knowledge and understanding of the scientific and mathematical principles that are central to electrical engineering.

TSAST - Electrotechnical and other basic competence

The student knows the basic quantities and laws of electrical engineering and can apply this knowledge to the simple dc- and ac-circuit calculations. The student understands the function principles of resistors, inductors and capacitors. The student understands the concepts of ac-power and the effect of the resonance in ac-circuits.

TSASL - Competence in electricity and equipment safety

The student knows the basic regulations of electrical safety and knows the basic measurements of electrotechnology.

Content

Electric quantities, symbols and graphic symbols. Basics in direct current and alternating current, phase shift, impedances and electric power. Load and source as parts of circuit. Resistor, inductor and capacitor. Resonance.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient 1: The student knows the basic laws of electrical engineering and can do simple electrotechnical calculations. He (she) knows the basics of electricity safety regulations and has the skills measurements of basic electric quantities.

Satisfactory 2: The student knows the basic topics of electrical engineering and can solve simple electrical calculations. He (she) knows the basics of electricity safety regulations. He (she) has the skills for basic electricity measurements.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good 3: The student knows the essential theory and basic calculations of DC and AC circuits. The student knows the basics of electricity safety regulations and he (she) has the skills for basic electricity measurements.
Very good 4: The student has an overall picture of the scientific and mathematical principles of electrical engineering and ability to independently apply different methods to electrotechnical problems. The student knows the basics of electricity safety regulations and has the skills for basic electricity measurements.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent 5: The student has a clear overall knowledge and understanding of the scientific and mathematical principles of electrical engineering. He (she) is able to apply different methods creatively to electrotechnical problems. The student masters the basics of electricity safety regulations and carry out basic electricity measurements.
