Content

The course includes the commonly used Quality of Service mechanisms such as marking, shaping/limiting, queueing and congestion control. In addition, the course delves more deeply into ISP networks where Quality of Service settings are needed such as Multicasting broadcast television and Voice over Internet Protocol. ISP core network technologies are also studied in the course.

Qualifications

Basics of Data Networks. Understanding of Routing and Switching. Knowledge of Operating Systems and Servers. Corporate and ISP networks.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The course is evaluated with a theory exam.

Excellent 5: The student shows in a theory exam that they know and understand Quality of Service in data networks exceptionally well. The student can exceptionally well design Quality of Service settings needed in data networks.

Very good 4: The student shows in a theory exam that he or she knows and understands Quality of Service in data networks very well. The student can commendably design the Quality of Service settings needed in data networks.

Good 3: The student shows in a theory exam that he or she knows and understands Quality of Service in data networks well. The student can design the Quality of Service settings needed in data networks versatilely.

Satisfactory 2: The student shows in a theory exam that he or she knows and understands the basics of Quality of Service in data networks. The student can design the basic Quality of Service settings needed in data networks.

Sufficient 1: The student shows in a theory exam that he or she knows and understands something about Quality of Service in data networks. The student can design some Quality of Service settings needed in data networks.

Fail 0: The student does not meet the criteria set for the course.
