Objective

The student learns about the sections and techniques of network infrastructure. Additionally, the student masters the requirements and best practices in network design.

Content

The course contains the various sections (VLANs, LANs) and most commonly used techniques (Router-on-a-Stick, Routing, Segmentation, VPN) and devices (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless base stations, work stations, servers and mobile terminals) of network infrastructure. The student is familiar with the placing and role of various network components in the network. In addition, the course discusses requirements and best design practices affecting networks.

Qualifications

Layered structure of networks

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent 5: The student understands all topics discussed during the course and is able to analyze existing solutions outstandingly. The student is able to plan all parts of a small-scale network infrastructure based on given requirement specification.

Very good 4: The student understands the most important topics discussed during the course and is able to utilize this knowledge in most common cases. The student is able to analyze existing solutions excellently.
The student is able to plan almost all parts of a small-scale network infrastructure based on given requirement specification.

Good 3: The student understands the most important topics discussed during the course and is able to utilize this knowledge in the most basic cases. The student is able to analyze existing solutions. The student is able to plan most parts of a small-scale network infrastructure based on given requirement specification.

Satisfactory 2: The student understands the most basic topics discussed during the course, however, the student is not able to utilize all of the course knowledge. The student is able to analyze existing solutions acceptably. The student can plan some parts of a small-scale network infrastructure based on given requirement specification.

Sufficient 1: The student is familiar with the basic topics discussed during the course. The student is able to analyze parts of existing solutions. The student can plan few parts of a small-scale network infrastructure based on given requirement specification.

Fail 0: The student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the course.
