Objective
Student knows how to achieve positive results with and through people, developing leadership, social and emotional skills. The student will have opportunity to learn the art and science of leadership communication, motivation and to develop a positive psychological approach to the change and for the change in multicultural settings and blended environments (human-tech).
The student will learn how to deal with the new challenges of the Leadership in the 21st century VUCA world.
The student will become familiar with the main skills&styles required in leadership and will learn to monitor followers -employees in times of crisis and in a highly emotional multicultural settings .
The student will have an opportunity to experience the skills required in leading and managing stress, balancing professional and personal life according to the new era.
(KU1) Employ theoretical and conceptual knowledge to identify and analyze business problems in global contexts.
(IS2) interpret and analyse complex business issues from multiple perspectives andcritically review academic literature and other relevant information sources
(PS2) operate effectively within a multicultural team environment demonstrating teambuilding and intercultural communication skills.
(TS2) exercise initiative and take personal responsibility for one’s own work in terms of timeliness, professional behaviour, personal motivation and planning skills.
Content
This course is designed to:
1. Increase the knowledge and the self-awareness of the student about the leader as individual in a changing world;
2. Develop the students’ understanding of the concept of leadership from the perspective of the leader in relation with the followers in multicultural settings;
3. Experience the concept of Mindful Leader in an organization and its impact in the economic and social field (social and emotional skills);
4. Explore the differences between Virtual Leadership & Lead in Person and the multicultural challenges in blended environments ( human-technology)
5. Achieve the awareness of the skills shift in the workforce according to the 4th Indutrial Revolution

Basic understanding of the leadership definitions and styles; Basic notions of social and emotional skills
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The general criteria of the competences that the Bachelor's Degrees awarded by Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences provide can be found on JAMK's web pages (http://www.jamk.fi/english/forstudents/studyguid e). The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Assessment is based on knowledge, skills and competence in accordance with the National and European Qualifications Framework, level 6. Grades are:
- Excellent (5) - The student shows exceptional theoretical knowledge of fundamentals of the subject. The student demonstrates the ability to apply the knowledge to assignments and presentations with excellent written and oral communications skills
- Very Good (4) - The student shows good knowledge of the subject fundamentals and concepts and is able to communicate these in an effective way
- Good (3) The students knowledge covers major parts of concepts and theories related to the subject. The student´s ability to apply the knowledge to assignments shows need for improvement, as well as there is room for improvement in oral and written communication
- Satisfactory (2)- The students knowledge covers restricted part of concepts and theories related to the subject and has deficiencies in showing the ability to apply them in assignments. Communication skills need improvement..
- Sufficient (1) - The student shows only a sufficient understanding of the subject and of relevant theories and methods and fails to show a convincing ability to apply the knowledge to real life situation nor to communicate the concepts in an effective manner.
