Objective

The student is familiarized with the user interface of Blender. The student can create a game engine compatible textured and rigged 3D character.  The student understands the technical requirements for different game archetypes and can produce content for them.

Content

• Overview of mesh modeling and terminology
• Introduction to Blender and its UI
• Principles of game asset creation
• Hard Surface Modeling and Sculpting
• UV unwrapping and basic texturing
• Rigging and Weight painting

Qualifications

Knowledge of 2D image processing and working with layers

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5): The student masters the terminology and understands the technical requirements for game assets. The student can create aesthetically pleasing and highly optimized models. The student has advanced knowledge in different modeling techniques and apply it in practise.

Good (3-4): The student is familiar with the terminology and essentials of the course. The sudent can create more complex models and textures. The student demonstrates knowledge in modeling and can apply it in practise.

Satisfactory (1-2): The student has basic knowledge of the terminology and can create functional game assets."
