Objective
The students master the basic concepts related to data networks and can install a workgroup network and server network. They know common operating systems, network protocols and their significance. They know ethernet network types and network cables, as well as typical network devices, e.g. switches and routers. They know the main measures improving the data security of LANs.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
o Excellent (5): The student can creatively apply the things learnt in the course. She/he can design and build a data network for a small company and erect in it the most common services/servers.
o Good (3-4):The student can apply the things presented in the course in an expedient and goal-oriented way. She/he can design and build a data network for a small company.
o Satisfactory (1-2): The student understands the basics of data network structures and can build simple data networks.
