Developing cultural awareness during an international exchange period (5cr)

Objective

This course helps you to develop cultural awareness and understand cultural differences and diversity. You will get tools for exploring cultural encounters during you exchange period and developing some of the skills that have been found to be important in such encounters. The learning goals of the course are: The learner knows the concepts of culture and cultural diversity and understands his or her position on cultural differences and diversity. The learner knows some of the skills that have been found to be important in cultural encounters and is able to use critical reflection to develop such skills during and after the exchange period. The learner explores facilitating of learning in a different context.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

You can demonstrate the competence required by completing the learning assignments.
In this course, the learner’s ability to develop cultural awareness and some of the skills that are important in cultural encounters with a reflective approach during and after the exchange period is assessed.
The assessment is criterion referenced and the assessment decision is made by the teacher trainer once all the learning tasks have been completed.

The assessment decision is made on a pass/fail scale.

The course is accepted after the student has completed the learning tasks related to the international exchange period that are included in the course. The assessment material consists of the learning assignments.
