The Developing Role of Public Health Nurse (3cr)

Objective

The students know the development of public health nursing and the legislation regulating it. They internalise the ethics and values of public health nursing. They recognise the social evils which affect our wellbeing and can work in order to reduce them. They are able to work as public health nurses in a changing society and in various cultural environments.

Content

The history of public health nursing. The principles, ethics and quality criteria of public health nursing. Reflection on one's own professional competence and growth into public health nursing. The main legislation which guides public health work.
