Objective

The students
• know the physiological and psychological impacts of nature
• know the theoretical backgrounds of nature impacts and benefits for health and wellbeing
• able to use and apply meaningful and goal-oriented practical tools in different natural environments to support physical and mental health in rehabilitation, social work, and health care sectors.

Content

• Theories linking nature, health and well-being
• Evidence-based research results between nature and wellbeing benefits
• Practical tools for preventive and treatment-based rehabilitation, health care, and social work – indoors, in green spaces, and woodlands.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Passed
The student is able to utilize theoretical and research-based perspectives that promote well-being in nature in summer school discussions, group work and reflections of own competence. The student is familiar with nature-based practical activities that promote well-being and is able to examine their impact on their own well-being.
