Objective
The students are familiar with the ageing process and can recognise and anticipate factors harmful to the health, function and wellbeing of aged people.
They can support and activate the elderly to maintain and promote health, function and autonomy. They are familiar with the service needs of aged clients and with the production of different services through seamless service chains and networking. The students can develop the quality of nursing for aged clients from the perspective of oral health promotion, self-care and maintenance of function, in cooperation with relatives and different service providers.
Content
Programmes and recommendations of social and health policy concerning seniors and elders. Current specific questions related to the oral hygiene of the elderly. Decision making in care, evidence-based knowledge in the care of the elderly. Services for seniors and elders.
Qualifications
Competence acquired in the professional studies of dental hygienist
