Objective
The students are able to analytically examine the concepts of health, function, health education, and health promotion. They are able to search for information on factors affecting health and health behaviour, as well as on the need for health promotion at various stages of the life cycle. They understand the significance of an empowering approach in the health promotion of individuals, families and communities. The students understand the meaning of living environment to person's well-being. They are familiar with social strategies and policies of health promotion at national and international level.
Content
The concepts of health promotion, health and function, their extensive and multi-dimensional character. The operating fields, levels, and environments of health promotion. Empowerment in health promotion, the approaches to health promotion. Philosophical and ethical questions in health promotion. The prerequisites for health and function at various stages of life, their assessment and measurement. National and local policy programmes of health promotion at various organizational levels of society.
