Objective
The students perceive research as part of professional expertise. They are able to recognise and define meaningful development targets and questions in their field and in their own activities. They know and can to some extent apply research and development methods to develop working life. They perceive the hypotheses of research, the stages of the research process, and the alternatives for data collection. They are familiar with the ethical principles of R&D work and understand factors related to the reliability of outcomes. They can apply the value basis and principles of professional ethics of their own field to R&D in working life. They are able to collect and process information coming from general and field-specific sources and critically assess this data. They are able to make a research/project plan based on the needs of working life and to report on it.
Content
Scientific activity and thinking, the application of research-based information as part of professional competence. The R&D methods of working life, reporting on a project. Thesis process, requirements for the thesis, characteristics of investigative writing. Ethical principles of R&D. The reliability of research. Field-specific information sources, research data collection as part of information literacy. The structure and writing usages of thesis report.
Qualifications
Vocational college diploma or equivalent in social and health care.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Active participation in contact and online study, written assignments. Assessment criteria in the R5 learning environment.
