Objective

The students can tell about the main groups of biochemical substances, their structure, essential reactions, and significance for vital functions. They can explain the main metabolic reactions, their significance, and the factors affecting them. They know how to handle biological materials and molecules isolated from them, and perform common biochemical analyses.

Content

The structure and functions of biomolecules (proteins, carbohydrates, fats, nucleid acids), the characteristics of cell metabolism. Protein, enzyme, carbohydrate and fat analyses.
