Objective

After completing the course, you will be familiar with the animal species used in animal production and the production requirements and objectives. You will be familiar with the basics of animal nutrition, breeding and behaviour, and you will recognise variables and key figures that are essential for production. You will be able to interpret the impact of circumstances on animal output, growth and welfare. You will be familiar with animal production operators and experts in Finland and internationally. You will be able to identify the possibilities of using technology in animal production and animal farm processes.

Content

Production animal species and breeds, production requirements and production goals. Fundamentals of species-appropriate animal behavior and welfare. Fundamentals and importance of feeding and breeding in animal production. Production key figures and their monitoring and interpretation. Possibilities for monitoring animal farm conditions and knowledge of animal farm technology solutions.
