Osaamistavoitteet

The student will activate his/her use of spoken English in everyday situations. He/she will be able to tell about himself/herself, his/her family and free time activities, living environment and home country, and will manage basic communication situations in everyday life. The student will also get a quick overview of living and studying in Finland. Level A2-B1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

- practical exercises/real-life situations related to visiting places (coffee shop/restaurant/museum/stores, sightseeing etc.)
- Finland in a nutshell, an introduction to cultural habits and conventions in Finland
- a short presentation

5 – The student is able to communicate about basic personal issues, everyday life and his/her own home country using clear and easily comprehensible language. Pronunciation does not interfere with understanding the message.
4 – The student understands and is able to tell about basic personal issues, everyday life and his/her own country. The use of language is mostly fluent, but occasional problems with structures/expressions can create misunderstandings.
3 – The student understands common contents related to basic personal issues, everyday life and his/her own home country. He/she is able to talk about the topics, but frequent problems with fluency, pronunciation, grammar and/or vocabulary can make the output slow and hesitant.
2 – The student understands and is able to use the most common phrases related to basic personal issues, everyday life and his/her home country, and can ask and answer basic questions related to the topics using simple vocabulary and structures. Problems with fluency, pronunciation, grammar and/or vocabulary can make the output slow and hesitant.
1 – The student understands and is able to use the most common words and phrases related to basic personal issues, everyday life and his/her home country, but needs help and repetition. Problems with fluency, pronunciation, grammar and/or vocabulary can make the output difficult to understand.
