Objective

The students continue acquiring a working knowledge of the French language and are able to apply it in everyday situations. The students have a motivation to actively use the language.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

5 Student is able to fluently communicate in everyday
social encounters and routine discussions also at work.
Student can interact fairly spontaneously according to the
cultural norms. Student is able to use central vocabulary and
sentence structures in a natural way. Student can write brief
messages almost flawlessly. Student is able to understand
clear standard speech.

4 Student is able to communicate fairly fluently in regular
social encounters pertinent to everyday life, also at work.
Student can interact with relative spontaneity respecting cultural norms. Student can understand various texts on familiar topics and also texts of their own interest. Student is able to follow clear standard speech and take part in it, and understand the main point of many TV and radio programs of personal interest

3 Student is able to deal with everyday situations likely to arise when travelling in the areas where French is spoken. Student is able to interact in basic work-related tasks both orally and in writing, although there may be some hesitation and minor problems with the language. Student can understand standard texts and TV programs on familiar topics.

2 Student can deal with everyday situations in French although with some effort and problems. Student is able to understand brief texts and TV programs on clearly narrated and familiar topics. Student can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans both orally and in writing.

1 Student is able to interact in French and deal with situations in everyday life. Student is able to understand clear speech and also talk about familiar, work-related topics, although some problems occur with basic structures and limited vocabulary. Student can write brief messages and arrange meetings, but errors with language take place.
