Basics of Communication (3cr)

Objective

The students can recognise their personal learning style and are able to evaluate and develop it. They understand the significance of study technique and the writing process for learning and aim at developing their writing skills. They are familiar with the main text types related to studies, as well as with the characteristics of factual style.

Content

Learning styles and skills. Interactive writing process and academic writing, text types of assignments, factual style, grammar and language correctness.

Qualifications

The students master comprehensive school syllabus in Finnish or have equivalent knowledge.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Self-assessment and teacher's assessment.
