Osaamistavoitteet

Master student has an overall picture of epistemological and ontological considerations of qualitative research and its methodology.
Master student can identify the applicability of various types of qualitative data and methods for solving different types of research questions.
Master student understands the strengths and the weaknesses of qualitative research and has an ability to conduct a qualitative research and assess it as well as its applicability to his/her own field of research and development work.

1 (Adequate):
Master student demonstrates understanding of the theoretical basis of qualitative research as well as the strengths and weaknesses. Master student identifies different types of qualitative data and methods that are applicable to different types of research tasks solving. He / she has the basic skills needed to do qualitative research. Master student understands how to evaluate qualitative research.

2 (Satisfactory):
Master student demonstrates understanding of the theoretical basis of qualitative research as well as the strengths and weaknesses. Master student is able to identify and select the various kinds of qualitative data and methods that are applicable to different types of research tasks solving. He / she is able to do qualitative research. Master student understands how to evaluate qualitative research, and to apply the knowledge in their field of research and development.

3 (Good):
Master student demonstrates understanding of the theoretical basis of qualitative research as well as the strengths and weaknesses. Master student selects and justifies the qualitative data and the methods of choice, which are applicable to his/her final thesis/dissertation research tasks solving. He / she is well prepared to do qualitative research. Master student can evaluate the qualitative research and apply knowledge in their field of research and development.

4 (Very good):
Master student is able to determine the reasons for the qualitative research information theoretical foundations and methods. Master student examines expertly the strengths and weaknesses of qualitative research. He / she evaluates a variety of qualitative data and methods for the purpose of different types of research tasks solving. Master student has a commendable capacity to make qualitative research. Master student evaluates qualitative research and its applicability in their own field of research and development.

5 (Excellent):
Master student is able to determine the reasons for the qualitative research information theoretical foundations and methods. Master student examines expertly the strengths and weaknesses of qualitative research. He / she evaluates a variety of qualitative data and methods for the purpose of different types of research tasks solving. Master student has excellent capabilities to do qualitative research. Master student critically evaluates qualitative research and its applicability in their own field of research and development.
