Objective
The student develops their readiness for continuous professional growth and learning in teaching. The student demonstrates competence in teachers’ communication and interaction skills and is able to utilise them in teaching situations. The student understands the connections between music and learning within the learning process and applies this knowledge in planning and delivering teaching.
Content
The course can be completed via the open UAS by any musician, music pedagogue, upper secondary student, or music enthusiast interested in the subject. The course deepens thinking in instrument pedagogy and offers perspectives on the core contents and practices of the profession of the instrument teacher. The course is a continuation of the study unit Perspectives and Practices of the Instrument Pedagogue’s Profession 1. Content: the teacher’s professional development, the teacher’s communication and interaction skills, music and learning.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The student advances their professional development and demonstrates active engagement in developing their competence in teaching. The student is able to utilise communication and interaction skills appropriately in teaching situations. The student can apply the connections between music and learning to the learning process in the planning and implementation of teaching.
