Objective
After completing the course, you are able to:

communicate in general and field-specific working life situations both orally and in writing in English
compile the most common work-related texts in your field
use the essential English vocabulary needed in your field
search and make use of field-related information from English-language sources
recognize and develop your English-language communication and interaction skills

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
You can communicate understandably both in speech and writing in simple and routine work tasks and everyday situations. You understand the central content of speech and writing dealing with familiar topics and the main content of field-specific sources. You have a sufficient command of the basic structures of the language for the delivery of your message although your language use is at times slow and incoherent. The level of pronunciation is sufficient for the delivery of the main content of the message. In communication, you might need help or support from others. You act responsibly and abide by established agreements.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
You can manage well in both oral and written situations in working life and everyday life using an appropriate style. You can write a text with coherent content. You have no difficulty in understanding and producing speech and writing needed in working life although expressions deviating from the standard use of the language cause problems to some extent. You can interpret, communicate and elaborate information from field-specific sources. You have a good command of the language and its use, but occasional problems may arise. You participate actively in discussion, and take other people into consideration by, for example, asking questions and making sure everybody has a chance to express their opinions. You act responsibly and abide by established agreements.

You can communicate with great fluency and active participation in a wide variety of situations. You also demonstrate considerable versatility and an appropriate communication style even in demanding working life situations. You can develop your professional skills by applying information from the most recent international sources in your field. You can understand and produce demanding content in both speech and writing. Your language use is practically flawless. You participate actively and can facilitate a discussion, adjusting your use of language to the needs of the other people and the situation. You act responsibly and abide by established agreements.
