Objective

Purpose of the course
In this course, you will get to know the factors related to and determining the clienthood in the social and healthcare services, as well as the basics of health promotion and guidance in nursing work.

Learning objectives of the course
You recognize the individual needs of clients and understand the concept of client-oriented approach in nursing. You illustrate the effect of client-oriented working and client involvement. You know the framework, principles and most important concepts of health promotion. You know the key methods of health promotion in nursing and understand their importance in client-oriented guidance. You understand the importance of preventive work from the perspective of the individual, community and society as part of sustainable development. You practice most common terminology and phrases in Finnish language related to health promotion and patient guidance.

National and international strategies for health promotion
Ethics and principles of health promotion
Evidence-based information related to the well-being of the population and its reporting

Finnish language terminology and phrases for health promotion related patient guidance

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient 1
You can name the health promotion framework, principles and key concepts. You are able to describe the main methods of guidance in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion. You are able to define current health promotion recommendations and understand their importance in customer-focused guidance. You recognize basic health promotion terminology and phrases in Finnish.

Satisfactory 2
You can describe the health promotion framework, principles and key concepts. You are able to describe the main methods of guidance in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion. You are able to interpret current health promotion recommendations and understand their importance in client-oriented counselling. You recognize basic health promotion terminology and phrases in Finnish.

Good 3
You are able to define the framework, principles and key concepts of health promotion. You are able to define the main methods of guidance in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion. You are able to apply current health promotion recommendations and understand their importance in client oriented guidance. You recognize basic health promotion terminology and phrases in Finnish.

You are able to define and justify key methods of guidance in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion. You can demonstrate the framework, principles and key concepts of health promotion. You can define and evaluate key methods of guidance in the design, implementation and evaluation of health promotion. You are able to apply and analyze current health promotion recommendations and assess their importance in client-oriented guidance. You recognize health promotion terminology and phrases in Finnish.
