Objective

Purpose of the course
You will learn to meet the patient's nursing needs in an authentic nursing environment.

Competence objectives of the study course
You know how to respond to the patient's basic needs with nursing methods, taking into account the principles of asepsis and ergonomics.
You know how to deal with the patient professionally and individually.
You know how to act constructively in the work community and promote your own and the work community's well-being.
In line with the practice context, you actively develop your Finnish language competence utilized within basic nursing settings.

Content

Professional practice in long-term care and assisted living environments

Qualifications

Completed studies in basics of nursing and pharmacotherapy
Passed medical calculations

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student is able to act in accordance with the ethical principles of nursing
The student works taking into account the principles of sustainable development
The student implements professional interaction in client-oriented nursing
The student is able to assess the client's needs and implement basic nursing skills in promoting the client's health
The student is able to act constructively and promote the well-being of the work community
The student actively applies relevant Finnish language and terminology in professional interactions.

Assessment criteria Pass/Fail
Successful completion of the clinical training as assessed by the clinical learning mentor and the supervising educator. The student has to meet the learning outcomes of clinical training in basic nursing. You actively develop your Finnish language competence with the assistance of the work community.
