Curricula

JAMK University of Applied Sciences provides education leading to bachelor’s and master's degrees as well as professional teacher education, vocational special needs teacher education and study counsellor education. JAMK also offers specialisation studies, open university of applied sciences studies and other additional and continuing education.

The basis for degree-awarding education is made up of competence-based and modular curricula. The curriculum serves as the base for students’ personal learning plans (PLPs). The curriculum describes the learning objectives, contents and assessment criteria of the education as well as the structure and progress of the studies.

The degree programme curricula are based on core competence and complementary competence modules and courses. Modular curricula enable flexibly recognition of prior learning and experience as part of the degree. Core competence forms the base of the degree competence and ensures that graduates are experts in their field. In addition to core competence, students must choose complementary competence studies that will enable them to deepen, widen and profile their competence and build an individual degree. Students may also choose and complete courses in other Finnish universities of applied sciences as well as international institutes of higher education and EduFutura partner universities (University of Jyväskylä and Gradia) as part of their personal learning plan.

The studies offered in degree programmes are planned for each academic year. The plans include specific course schedules and detailed implementation plans for teaching.

All curricula are available on these pages by year of beginning.
