    Learning outcomes of the course
    You will learn the basics of the Finnish language structure (past tense verbs, sentence structure, noun declination). You will be able to communicate in familiar everyday life situations (travelling, visiting doctor/nurse, dining in restaurants, housing). You will be able to express opinions and feelings in a simple way. You are introduced to the typical features of the Finnish communication culture and self-study methods.

    You can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of the most immediate relevance. You can produce simple sentences related to familiar and routine matters. You can describe in simple terms aspects of matters in areas of immediate need.
    Prerequisites and co-requisites
    Successfully completed Finnish 1 at Jamk or Finnish for beginners 1 at Jamk or CEFR level A1.2 (https://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/sites/default/files/cefr-en.pdf)
    Course contents
    You will learn to

    understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases (e.g. basic personal and family information, shopping, traveling)
    describe surroundings and one’s own health
    express opinions and feelings.

    1 You can understand at least half of the sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of the most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, traveling, health issues). You can produce simple sentences related to familiar and routine matters. You can describe in simple terms aspects of matters in areas of immediate need.

    2 You can understand quite often the sentences and frequently used expressions related to the areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, traveling, health issues). You can participate in communication situations related to simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters, but you need a lot of help and repetition. You can describe in simple terms aspects of the immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
    Assessment criteria - grade 3 and 4
    3 You can often understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of the most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, traveling, health issues). You can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters, but you need a lot of help and repetition. You can describe in simple terms aspects of the immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
