Objective

To begin with the students are acquainted with the central teaching methods and materials of pop/jazz and are able to develop and apply them. They possess the basic readiness necessary in teaching. They acquaint themselves with the practices prevalent in teaching, guidance and evaluation, and are capable of team-work. They evaluate their own and others' skills in a constructive and realistic way and make use of portfolio as a learning support.

Content

Opintojaksolla perehdyt rytmimusiikin eri kokoonpanoille ja eri tyylisuunnille sovitettuun materiaaliin ja harjoittelet niiden kehittämistä ja soveltamista käytännön opetustilanteisiin. Tutustut ryhmädynamiikan ja yhteissoiton perusteisiin ja opettelet tyypillisten yhtyeopetustilanteiden suunnittelua, toteuttamista ja hallintaa opettajan ammattietiikkaa noudattaen. Tuotat oppimateriaalia verkko-oppimisympäristöön, sekä tutustut saatavilla oleviin tarkoituksenmukaisiin digitaalisiin bändiopetussovelluksiin. Seuraat ja vertaisarvioit muiden opiskelijoiden opetusharjoittelua.

Teaching methods

Target learning outcome

You learn to conduct versatile music groups in different kind of learning environments. You can utilize and produce appropriate learning material to the groups. You understand the outlining of the phenomenons of group dynamics and you can utilize your own personal and musical strengths when teaching the music group. You get acquainted with the training programmes in different levels of the schooling systems.You learn teaching in groups by monitoring other students lessons and by self reflection.

Student workload

Seminary, teaching auditing and comparative evaluation 20-40 h. Independent work 20-30 h.

Further information

The course will be implemented together with the educational establishments from elementary school to university.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass:
The students participate actively in lesson planning and following. They complete the lesson auditing and assignments required. They are well acquainted with the main teaching methods in ensemble and teaching materials and are able to apply them. They possess the basic readiness for teaching work. They are able to evaluate their own and their students' practical teaching and make use of portfolio as teaching support. They are also capable of evaluating the theaching of others constructively and realistically.

Qualifications

The students are well acquainted with the principles of pop/jazz and understand diverse concepts relatedd to the learning of music. They understand the meaning of teaching planning as the basis of teaching.
