Objective

Purpose of the course
During this course you will receive skills of physiotherapy practice of clients with public health illness and elderly people.

Learning Outcomes
You are able to find out information in patient information systems as well as interview, study and analyze the preconditions and restrictions of functioning of a client with public health risk factors and illnesses. You can also take the preventive approach into account in the assessment of functioning as part of the client’s well-being. You recognize the significance of lifestyles in the promotion of the health and well-being of clients and aim to provide client-oriented support with lifestyle changes.
You are able to promote the client’s inclusion and activeness and create a reciprocal, interactive and cooperative professional relationship. You can plan and guide physical activity and physiotherapy that promote health and functioning in a safe manner.
You are able to plan and implement progressive therapeutic training by utilizing knowledge of pathophysiology and exercise physiology, as well as biomechanics and the principles of motor learning. You can apply a variety of guidance and teaching methods (manual, visual, verbal , digital and teach back method) in a goal-oriented manner to promote the functioning and health of individuals and groups.
You are able to utilize ergonomic methods and aids to support the physical activity and functioning of clients, their families and first-line employees. You can work together with the client and their family to assess of the environment in relation to the client’s resources and functional goals.
You can support clients in tapping into their personal resources and improving their quality of life in a variety of situations. You are able to act in compliance with the operating principles and professional ethics in your field. You know the shared values underpinning health care and rehabilitation, as well as the common goals and principles, and act accordingly.

Your practical training is passed when you are able to work responsibly and reliably in different organizations. You are able to find essential information in patient information systems as well as study and analyze the preconditions and restrictions of a client’s functioning. You know how to draw up a physiotherapy plan together with the client. You can guide physical activity and physiotherapy that promote health in a safe manner by applying different counselling methods. You can apply evidence-based information in implementing preventive physical rehabilitation and physiotherapy that promote functioning. You are able to utilize ergonomic methods, aids and assistive technology. You are able to support clients in different life situations. You are able to reflect realistically.
