Objective

Student is familiar with the principles and processes of operative and acute nursing. Student possesses the basic competences in multicultural patient centered perioperative nursing. Student is able to recognize the most common acute disorders in human body. Student can observe and care for a patient suffering from acute illnesses. Student masters the medical calculations and is able to implement safe medical care. Student is able to use and interpret the most common technological devices in acute and operative nursing safely.

Student has comprehensive knowledge of acute and operative nursing. Student is able to explain and justify comprehensively the etiology, risk factors and prognosis in the most common acute and operative diseases. Student is able to analyze and justify the care-, service- and rehabilitation paths and understands the importance of care models as part of patients’ rehabilitation and health promotion. Student shows deep reflection, comparison and evaluation from several aspects utilizing versatile evidence based material. Student is able to present his/her own developmental ideas in discussion. Student follows the written instructions of JAMK.

In his/her assignments the student reflects, compares and evaluates several aspects utilizing versatile evidence based material. Student follows the written instructions of JAMK.

The examples show understanding but the connection between theoretical and practical knowledge is missing. In his/her assignments the student reflects, compares and evaluates basic aspects utilizing mainly evidence based material. Student follows the written instructions of JAMK.

In his/her assignments the student is able to list some significant factors of patient care without reflecting in the references. Student follows the written instructions of JAMK partly.

Qualifications

Student masters the basic knowledge and interventions of health promotion, preventive nursing and public health nursing.
