Objectives

Student is able to support and promote health and functional abilities of individuals and diverse families in a home-like environment. Student plans, implements and assesses safe and culturally sensitive nursing care of various groups of clients with various illnesses. Student uses evidence-based knowledge and takes responsibility of their actions and the consequences.

Evaluation criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Student acts ethically, respecting the autonomy and integrity of diverse clients. Student applies principles of patient safety in nursing care in a home-like environment. Student plans, implements and evaluates culturally sensitive nursing care in co-operation with the client and their families supported by the mentor and using evidence-based knowledge. Student is able to draw a care plan and document the care using the principles of documentation. Student assesses client's health and functional abilities using valid measurements and recognizes deficiencies and environmental risks. Student presents preventive measures following client oriented and health promoting nursing care and guides clients in using relevant services. Student knows essential nursing interventions and safe use of care tools in a home-like environment. Student implements, assesses, and guides safe medical care with the client and multidisciplinary team. Student plans and organizes their work in initiative co-operation with other people participating in client's care following the rules of the work place. Student evaluates their skills and operation of the workplace constructively presenting both strengths and developing challenges.
Fail
Practice is failed, if the student does not reach the minimum requirements of passed practice.

Prerequisites

Student has knowledge for promoting health and functional abilities of individuals and diverse families as well as planning, implementing and assessing nursing care in culturally sensitive manner.
