Objective

The student knows and understand the most important concepts of energy and get familiar with global energy sources and energy consumption objectives as well as international and national energy and climate policies. In addition, the students are familiar with the legislation and key instruments relating to climate policy objectives. The students can identify the most significant emissions to earth, water and air and their impact on the environment and health.

Content

Climate policy, climate change, environmental responsibility, sustainable development, environmental legislation and management instruments, energy sources and energy use, circular economy, air pollution emissions and their impacts, environmental impacts and their management, calculation of carbon dioxide emissions, basics of waste management.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Passable (1): The students know the basics. They are able to solve simple tasks.

Satisfactory (2): The students know the basics but have problems in the applications of the key issues.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): The students know most of the key issues of the course and are able to apply their learning to simple basic cases.

Very good (4): The students master the key issues of the course and know how to apply these skills in the most common cases.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): The students master all key issues of the course and are able to apply these skills critically and innovativelly in challenging situations.
