Assessment of the student's development in each of the intended learning outcomes of the IB bachelor degree programme.
Sisältö
Academic self-assessment is the final task in the studies where students self-assess their professional development through the lens of the programme’s intended learning outcomes in knowledge and understanding, intellectual skills, practical skills and transferrable skills. By bringing concrete evidences from their studies, students demonstrate how they have developed in each intended learning outcome of the programme. This task complements the earlier assessment of the intended learning outcomes in the courses, projects, practical training, and the bachelor’s thesis, and thus contributes to quality assurance in the assessment of the intended learning outcomes.
Opetusmenetelmät
Academic self-assessment is a 3 ECTS independent work, which is introduced to students in the first year of their studies in connection with the career tutoring and portfolio process and finalized during the final academic semester in the international business bachelor degree programme. It aims to identify how well the students have developed themselves in the intended learning outcomes (ILOs) of the international business degree programme (see the Intended Learning Outcomes folder). Hence, though the execution is in the third year, students are required to collect evidences of their development starting already from the first year of their studies as part of their career tutoring / portfolio process. Students present evidences of their development in their academic self-assessment both in writing and in face-to-face (or online for those who are not in Jyväskylä) discussions with their career tutors (thesis supervisors), providing very specific learning examples they have had throughout their studies (see the Assignments folder).
