Objective
2-8 ECTS= Completing one semester of EOTO is worth 2 credits. You can take the course four times in four different semesters (= 8 credits).
The object of the course:
After completing this course, you will have increased your cultural awareness and improved your language and communication skills.
You will become more aware of intercultural differences. You will gain communication skills that help you interact in multicultural environments.

Content
In this course two students from different cultural and language backgrounds teach each other their respective language and culture through informal meetings in which each of them acts in both the role of the teacher and the learner. The course content is greatly dependent on the decisions of the participants. It can be an introduction to a new language and its respective culture or an intensive brush-up course for a previously learned language or anything in between, depending on your needs. In the beginning of the course you will make a preliminary plan for your studies. At the end of the course you will write a final report on your learning outcomes.
Location and time
You will implement the course independently with your language partner. A preparatory information meeting will be given at the beginning of each semester:

You will implement the course independently with your language partner. You will have face-to-face and online meetings. A preparatory information meeting will be given at the beginning of each semester.
The course cannot be completed through skills demonstration.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Pass:
You are able to set learning objectives and work determined to achieve them. You analyze how well you have met your own objectives during the course. You are able to evaluate your role as a learner and as a teacher in the learning process. You reflect on your learning outcomes in a comprehensive way. The grading is based on the learning diary.
Fail:
Your performance does not meet the criteria for passing the course.
NB! If you need a numerical grade (1 - 5), it can be obtained on a separate certificate. The need for a numerical assessment must be communicated to the teacher at the beginning of the course.
