Objective

The track aims at shedding light on the specific characteristics of technology markets, innovations and companies. In the focus is the dynamic, fast-paced and global view of the tech-based business across company functions. The themes of change, growth and anticipation of the futures are also covered.

Upon completion of the course you will be able to:

Skills in Critical and Analytical Understanding IBCRI
Critically review, analyze and understand information available from academic and professional business sources in the field of technology-based businesses.

Applied Business Skills IBBUS
Apply disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge to analyze business challenges and trends to propose to practical solutions for technology business based on the findings.

Communication Skills IBCOM
Communicate responsibly, effectively and professionally in English in oral and written formats.

Intercultural Collaboration Skills IBCOL
Participate in inter- and multicultural settings and demonstrate teamwork skills

Skills for Personal Career Development IBPER
Create a realistic understanding of functions, opportunities and demands in technology business and identify own interests and strengths for pursuing them in future studies for career

Content

The course contents can be later enlarged and deepened with the learnings of JAMK courses such as: Elements of AI, Simulation Game and Technology Business Dynamics.

Student workload

Student workload (135 hrs total) consists of:
Lectures and workshops - 40 hrs
Groupwork preparations and presentations - 25 hrs

Communications Skills IBCOM: Student is able to transmit to a limited extent his and his team’s ideas and findings in English
Collaborative Skills IBCOL: Student shows some but low-level skill in participating productively in inter- and multicultural setting and teamwork.
Skills for personal career development IBPER: Student knows how technology companies are organized and recognizes areas of professional interest in them.

Satisfactory (2):
Critical and Analytical Understanding IBCRI : Student shows basic ability to analyze and evaluate academic and business information relevant to tech business and foresight.

Communications Skills IBCOM: Student is able to get his main message trough when presenting his and his team’s ideas and findings in English but improvement would be needed.

Qualifications

First year obligatory studies of IB programme (or equivalent studies passed elsewhere) passed before starting the course.
