Objectives

The object of the course
After completing this course, you will have comprehensive understanding of leadership and management. The purpose is to provoke interest towards leadership and management studies and leadership work.

The learning objectives of the course
You understand the significance of leadership and management. You are familiar with the basic concepts describing leadership and management and the operation of an organisation. You are familiar with theories of leadership and contemporary leadership trends. You recognise your capabilities and motivation for leadership work. You take responsibility for your own working. You recognise the principles of teamworking.

Teaching methods

The course has four themes and related to these themes there will be three tasks/assignments and the final assignment. Learning is supported by introductory lectures, theme-specific study materials and theme discussions in small groups.

Participation to lectures, individual assignments and final assignment have to be carried out to accomplish the course.

Exam dates and retake possibilities

The theme-specific learning assignments must be completed and returned during the course.
Group discussions must be attended to in accordance with the course timetable.
The personal final assignment is scheduled to be returned in May 2023.
The retake of the final assignment is possible in June 2023.
A more detailed schedule will be announced at the beginning of the spring term.

Content scheduling

During the course, theme-specific introductory lectures during classroom sessions, independent study and group discussion and group work will alternate. Final assignment will be completed at the end of the course.
