Objective
The course aims at giving the student a view on what management in modern organizations is on company-, team- and individual level as well demonstrate how the subject has been and is researched. The reflection of the course contents to students´ own experiences and views helps students to start building their own approach of management to aid them in their careers.
By the completion of the course you will be able to:
Skils in Critical and Analytical Understanding IBCRI
- Critically review, analyze and understand information available from academic and professional business sources in management field.
Applied Business Skills IBBUS
- Apply disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge to analyze management challenges and trends to propose or take in action management solutions based on the findings.
Communication Skills IBCOM
- Communicate responsibly, effectively and professionally in English in oral, written and digital formats.
Intercultural Collaborative Skills IBCOL
- Participate in inter- and multicultural settings, demonstrate teamwork and leadership skills such as conflict resolution.
Ethical Conduct IBETH
- Embrace ethical conduct in practice and decision-making. The guidelines of the management action may arise from frameworks such as the Principles for Responsible Management Education (UNPRME) or the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

Content
Models of management, leadership, corporate sustainability and responsibility, visionary and strategic management, budgeting and strategy, organizational structure and culture, managing change, influence and power, motivation, communication, managing teams.
For each content unit there will be processes and analytical tools provided for instantiations of learned models/frameworks and concepts.

Further information
The learning outcomes of the course will be deepened during the 2nd year, 1st semester at Human Resource Management course. The student can also widen the learning during the exchange year at JAMK´s partner universities in courses like Workplace Psychology etc.
