Objective
As an engineer you need to understand that quality and risk management are key business processes. Quality management is the responsibility of everyone in companies. Quality management follows across organizational boundaries, throughout the supply chain and should be managed on a larger scale. Measuring, analyzing, and continuously improving quality, affects customer satisfaction, business productivity, and, at the same time, profitability. Risk management in companies is a wider concept that includes the whole process of identifying the risks of different processes, from anticipation to risk minimization. By managing risk management, companies can proactively react or prepare for risks and thereby minimize inconvenience.
In this course you will learn
- understand the principles and techniques of quality management
- understand the quality concepts of companies
- identify terminology for quality and risk management
- identify and apply various quality and risk management tools
- identify different quality and risk management standards
- perform simple quality cost calculations and risk assessments
After completing this course, you will understand basic principles and techniques of quality management. You will be able to apply quality tools to measurements, analysis and improvement the financial performance of your company. You will learn how to deal with unstable environments and get tools to assess personal and other risks in different business processes. You will also learn to guide safe operations for both individuals and companies.

Teaching methods
The course is implemented as contact teaching, in addition to which it includes learning assignments and an exam.
Assignments are done as independent work. The assignments are described in the course workspace. All assignments are either individual assignments or group assignments (described in course workspace) and their due dates will be confirmed as the course progresses.
